27 and 0

On June 15, HK Project Graduation hosted its 27th celebration for the 2017 high school graduates. At 4:15 in the morning, right before we started raffling off prizes, Dave Carey asked the alumni what the numbers 27 and 0 mean—27 years of holding this event and zero fatalities on graduation night for another successful year!

We couldn’t have done it without the many volunteers, those on the committee and those that help out during the year, the night of, and the morning after. We also couldn’t do this without our many financial supporters. This event costs approximately $22,000. We are not part of any school or town budget. We raise this money through fundraising and outright donations. It’s incredible the response we get to our postal patron mailing. Every donation, from the check for $5 to the checks for $150, help us reach our goal. We thank all of the residents of Haddam, Higganum, Haddam Neck, and Killingworth who contribute to us. We also thank the businesses in Killingworth and Madison that contribute, both financially and in-kind, through prizes for our graduates to food that we serve at the celebration. The following is a list of the businesses in Killingworth and Madison that support us: All Points Technology Corporation, PC, Cozy Corner Bake Shoppe, JV Wine and Spirits, Killingworth Ambulance Association, Killingworth Country Market, Killingworth Family Pharmacy, Killingworth True Value, Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company, Lenny & Joe’s Fish Tale, Peter White Plumbing, Pizzeria DaVinci, R.J. Julia Café and Bookstore, Roberts IGA, St. Lawrence Church, The Cooking Company, and WJ Financial Advisors.

Thanks go to everyone for helping us reach 27–0.
