A Great Place

The Branford Early Childhood Collaborative would like to thank the many organizations, families, and businesses that participated in our annual Week of the Young Child celebration. This event could not have happened without support from individuals, the Branford Rotary Club, The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, and the Branford Early Learning Center (BELC).

Because of their sponsorship of One Book One Town, more than 900 young children in Branford received a copy of Happy in Our Skin by our 2017 Children’s Champion, Fran Manushkin. This powerful book promoted positive messages about accepting differences in ourselves and our communities.

We would like to thank the downtown merchants for embracing this event each year by making their window space available for the Art Walk. BELC generously hosted our day of activities and the teachers and families of the BELC deserve recognition and thanks for their hard work. BELC Director Diane Pappacoda, was also honored with a well-deserved 2017 Children’s Champion award.

A huge thank you goes to our committee members and agency partners, as well as the volunteers from Fire Company 9 and First Student for providing Touch a Truck.

Without support from all the child-centered non-profits, small businesses, and talented parents, our event could not have been such as success. We are fortunate that Branford continues to be a great place to raise and care for kids.
