Why is a former Republican seeking the Democratic Party nomination to run against Republican Mayor Joe Maturo, Jr.? In my opinion, the town of East Haven needs a strong Democratic leader who will resist the right-wing agenda, not rubber stamp it. Any former member of the Republican Party is not an ideal candidate for this job. The East Haven Democratic Town Committee (DTC) must listen to the voters of this town and nominate a progressive individual who will create real and meaningful change. I strongly believe the DTC should make the right choice by not endorsing Mr. Maltese for the Democratic mayoral nomination.
Last, if any of your readers feel motivated to run for mayor, I urge them to do so.
