Where is the Money?

I was recently driving down the west end of Main Street and said to myself, “What happened to all the work that was supposed to be done in this area?” When I was a member of the Town Council and served for a total of eight years, I do remember the town received a grant for at least $500,000 through the office of U.S. Congressman Rosa DeLauro. This grant money was given with the sole purpose to clean up the area with lighting, flower containers, sidewalks, and more, and this was to extend all the way to the New Haven line.

Where is the work, and where is the money? Is this mismanagement or something else? It is typical for the Maturo administration to provide lip service and not service to our residents. Seeing this really makes me want to run for office again, and to research this matter, and find out the true story with our grant money.

Editor’s note: In 2015, the town announced grant funding had been secured for the project; on March 23, 2017, we reported that Phase Two of the three-phase project was anticipated to begin this summer.
