Take Care of our Own

More than 20 years ago we chose Clinton as our home because of the people who live here. Clintonians are authentic and true of spirit and take care of each other in times of need. We need to invest sagely with an eye to the future in order to maintain the integrity of our community.

Clinton is blessed with rare gifts. We’re a suburb of New Haven, Hartford, and New London. We have public access to the Long Island Sound and are rich with historical significance. These are the strengths in which we need to revel and that we need to explore and grow.

We need to be vigilant in keeping Main Street sacred. We cannot compromise our historical heritage with industrialization and businesses that don’t add to the aesthetic quality of life or reflect the values of our people. Patience, a plan, and high standards will and can attract the businesses that fit.

As voters, we need to support strong and wise education budgets. Strong schools combined with a quintessential Main Street are the two reasons families choose a community as their forever home. Superintendent of Schools Maryann O’Donnell has constructed a sound budget. Powerful decisions have been made before the vote and what’s presented encompasses the tools necessary to run a progressive school district with the mission of preparing students for the 21st century.

We need to maintain infrastructure at all costs. In the current political climate, the reality is that more financial responsibility will be handed down to the state and local levels. In another words, we need to take care of our own and do it responsibly. We encourage your readers to join us in supporting both the town and education budgets, voting “Yes” as the future of Clinton depends on our positive vote.
