Being a Vital Part

Now that Guilford High School Theatre Arts (GHSTA) has completed our run of the spring musical Sweeney Todd, I wanted to extend my thanks to the community of Guilford for its support of the more than 175 student actors, technicians, and musicians involved in the production.

Thanks go to our outstanding Theatre Arts Parent Support (TAPS) group for endless support throughout our production period; to The Guilford Community Center, The Marketplace at the Guilford Food Center, and Palumbo’s Automotive for serving as ticketing locations; to the plethora of local businesses who filled our program with ads to defray production costs; to the Guilford Fire Department, which helped us monitor the safe use of special effects, and to the Guilford Police Department, which worked with TAPS in planning the after-party celebration; to the members of the Board of Selectmen, Board of Education, and local and state civic leaders for attending our show; to the extraordinary folks in town who offered in-kind support in myriad ways; and to the community of Guilford itself for packing the house of our beautiful new Performing Arts Center at Guilford High School for six performances. The aggregate result of this incredible wave of giving was the students of Guilford High School Theatre Arts feeling honored, valued, celebrated, and cared for by the adults in their community.

So, on behalf of our entire GHSTA instructional team, we thank Guilford for enthusiastically supporting educational theater in Guilford Public Schools, for entrusting the teachers involved in the production with these incredible children, for continually and vocally advocating for the theater arts at GHS, and for being a vital part of such a special production. I am so very moved by the community’s generosity.
