So Much Spirit

On March 18, I along with several hundred others from Westbrook and other shoreline towns traveled to Mohegan Sun to watch the Westbrook varsity boys basketball team (the Shoreline Conference Champions) play in the State Class S Championship game. The young men played their hearts out, demonstrating tremendous skill and outstanding athleticism. Unfortunately victory on the court this day would not be theirs.

That didn’t mean however that they weren’t victorious in capturing so much in spirit and support from all those who attended and all those who have supported the team from the very beginning. I, like so many others who attended the game, have watched this team over the last few years. These young men have been truly gentlemen both on and off the court. They have displayed discipline and always gave 110 percent.

I know I am joined by so many when I say, “Thank you for the great spirit and pride you gave us over the last year.” Congratulations to the coaching staff and the Westbrook boys basketball team for winning the 2017 Shoreline Championship, making it to the state finals, and for winning the hearts of so many.
