Always on the Alert

They’re all around us, but often times never seen. They’ve been in existence for more than 50 years. They have really only one goal: to help wherever they can. They have improved the quality of life in our town in numerous ways. They have helped the very young and some of our senior citizens. When local organizations need help they are on the top of the list. They are always there ready to help the greater Clinton community no matter what the need might be.

This past Sunday, the members of the Clinton Lions Club held their 11th annual Pancake Breakfast to benefit Families Helping Families community out-reach programs. In the early morning darkness, they arrived at The Clinton Town Hall and immediately got to work. Soon the grills were warm; the coffee was made; bacon, ham, and sausage were cooking; and tables were set. All that was left to do was wait for some hungry residents to show up, and show up they did. Nearly 240 people turned out to enjoy a skillfully prepared breakfast and left full and enjoying some January sunshine. The Clinton Lions not only served breakfast, but also made sure the Town Hall Green Room was cleaned and everything put back into place.

The donated money and food will go directly to helping some of our Clinton families who are dealing with some unforeseen difficult circumstances. That’s what the Clinton Lions Club does—it helps our residents in many different ways from fund raisers like this one, to its golf tournament, to its fun Easter egg hunt. They are always on the alert to see how they can make things better in the Clinton community. How blessed we are to have these caring and sharing men and women be an active part of Clinton.
