Represents the Best

As a former member of the Board of Selectmen and the liaison to the Library Board of Trustees, I have seen firsthand how thoughtful and thorough the trustees are in matters that come before them. The most impressive thing about the Library Board of Trustees is that its members are very mindful of their responsibility as stewards not only to the building, but to the entire library community—including staff, patrons, and the Madison community at large.

I believe the library renovation/expansion project is well overdue and deserves the support of our community. This project represents the best of Madison, honoring and preserving our history while ensuring the best for our future. Scranton Library is not only the cornerstone of the downtown, it is the cornerstone of the community. Modern library services are critical to people of all ages, supplementing our youth’s education, encouraging continuing education in adults, and supporting community in seniors. The library also acts as our community center, offering so many programs that bring the citizens of Madison together.

I wholeheartedly endorse this project and hope your readers will join me in voting “Yes” at the referendum on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
