Needs our Support

While Madison’s Board of Education examines our public school facilities in order to best serve a declining enrollment, the Scranton Memorial Library also seeks to adapt. This stately downtown anchor continues to face burgeoning demand for library services, bringing around 80,000 visitors through its doors last year. With 420 community group meetings, 167 adult events, 139 teen events, 258 children’s events, 820 new library cards issued, 66,202 non-print materials checked out, 19,000 hours of computer use, and 35,000 interlibrary loans processed, it boggles the mind that so much learning can take place in such a small space. Ours is one of the most-used libraries of any Connecticut town.

But this precious resource definitely needs our support in order to remain a beacon to curious minds. I encourage your readers to join me in going to the polls on Tuesday, Feb. 7, and voting Yes, Yes, Yes for the Scranton Memorial Library.
