An Opportunity to Support

Planning a yearly budget on a fixed income is difficult without knowing what your property taxes will be each year. The senior tax freeze program will allow for seniors to plan a more secure yearly budget. This in turn will provide for financial stability at a point in their lives when they are on a fixed income. This new option will allow for income qualified seniors to age in place in the town to which they contributed for so many years.

On Thursday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. at Polson Middle School, Madison electors and citizens qualified to vote in town meetings will meet to take action on whether or not to approve the proposed senior tax freeze. This is an opportunity to support those who have given so much to our town for many years.

Before your readers attend the Town Meeting, I encourage that they review Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance meeting tapes and minutes so they are educated and informed about what this tax freeze really means to the seniors of Madison. They should take a moment to look at the income qualifications set forth in this proposal. I am sure they will see how essential this program will be to a senior citizen who meets these guidelines.

I also encourage your readers to pay a call to their elderly neighbor and ask how much this program will mean to them.
