Thank You, Glenn

It has come to my attention that after about nine years of service Glenn Weston-Murphy has stepped down as chair of Guilford’s Energy Task Force. In fact Glenn was hugely instrumental in establishing the committee, as well as serving as chair.

On behalf of myself and others of us who served on the task force with him, let me express our thanks for the time and energy he put into this volunteer position. Because the task force had no budget or authority, its role was limited to an advisory one, which provoked moments of frustration that Glenn handled calmly.

The task force, under his leadership, was very instrumental in ensuring that the new high school was engineered with energy efficiency in mind, adding an important dimension to the design criteria. The town, together with five other shoreline towns, obtained a state grant to explore, recommend, and implement energy-saving projects. This fruitful joint exercise, resulting in the hiring of an outside consultancy and numerous recommendations, was also aided by Glenn’s active participation.
