Thanksgiving Baskets a Huge Success

Thanksgiving has come and gone, but without the help of many, more than 250 families within the East Haven community would have been without a Thanksgiving dinner this year. The coordination and effort it takes to pull off this feat is nothing short of amazing.

The East Haven Food Pantry is very fortunate to have two ladies who have spearheaded this project for the last four years—Susan Coletta and Elise Palmer have created a system whereby all Thanksgiving bags have the trimmings to make for a wonderful dinner. Thanks to the system Sue and Elise created, it takes less than two hours to put the 250 bags of food together. Thanks go to these ladies for their continued support and making the experience so much easier for us all.

I would also like to thank Christine Sandford for all her hours of ordering whatever was needed and coordinating the delivery schedules. Also, thanks go to Jonathan Esler from Gold Medal Bakery, who was able to get the pantry the pies and rolls at a reduced price and delivered all the baked goods to our pantry. Last, thanks go to the many pantry volunteers who are always up for a challenge and are always there for whatever our pantry clients need. It is an honor to work alongside these truly remarkable people who continually give and care about others within our community.

Without the support of these volunteers, we would not be able to do what we do each week to make the pantry so successful.
