Race Represented a Collaboration

On behalf of the Madison Jaycees, I’d like to extend heartfelt thanks to the local community for supporting our recent Turkey Trot. This year especially, the race represented a collaboration between so many individuals and groups who helped to relocate our event to the Madison Town Green.

In particular, I’d like to recognize State Representative Noreen Kokoruda, First Selectman Tom Banisch, and Chief Jack Drumm and Captain Joe Race of the Madison Police Department. Their leadership ensured that our race and its fundraising efforts for local charities could continue this year.

I’d also like to acknowledge Lenny & Joe’s Fish Tale, a longtime Jaycees supporter, for generously stepping in as title sponsor. We are grateful that our sponsors are too numerous to name here, but please visit www.madisonjc.com for a complete list. The Jaycees also thank the First Congregational Church of Madison for hosting our event on its beautiful Green. Seeing more than 3,000 participants at the starting line among historic buildings and stately homes reinforced the race’s sense of community spirit. Our runners and walkers greeted the new course with enthusiasm, as did many of the neighbors along the route.

Finally, I must acknowledge our race committee and all of the volunteers whose hard work made this event possible. I look forward to seeing all of you again at next year’s Madison Turkey Trot!
