Entitled to a Vote

Three weeks ago, more than 250 Guilford residents and taxpayers came out to a hearing conducted by the town’s Board of Selectmen to discuss the proposal of the so-called Sector 1 of the Shoreline Greenway Trail to be constructed along a busy portion of the Boston Post Road in Guilford. The hearing lasted late into the night. By a more than two to one margin, residents spoke out, and expressed strong opposition to the proposal.

To date, the Board of Selectmen has not conducted a vote, nor even scheduled a meeting when its members will finally cast their votes on this project.

The people of Guilford are entitled to a vote. Our selectmen were elected to make decisions on important issues concerning our town, and I respectfully call upon them to promptly convene a meeting (with advance notice to us) at which their final vote on this critical subject will be taken.
