Still Going High

The number of stolen political signs for the Clinton/Kaine presidential campaign reached new heights this year in Westbrook and neighboring towns. If you wonder why there seemed to be an enormous number of the opponent’s signs in this town, there is a reason. Systematically, countless numbers of Hillary/Kaine signs disappeared from private property, front yards, main thoroughfares, and on the very same patch of earth shared by other yard signs from both sides of the political fence.

These incidents can not be washed away as the isolated work of mischievous kids, which does happen sporadically. This is clearly the work of adults, who are not adult enough to respect a difference of opinion and the First Amendment rights of others. This kind of aggression, trespassing, and theft makes me sad about the state of affairs. I don’t want any part of that kind of “greatness.”

Lemonade has been made from lemons. The pilfering has been instrumental in raising money for Planned Parenthood, as people have pledged $50 for every Hillary sign stolen. Citizens are still going high, when others go low.
