Legitimate Expression of Opinion

On Friday night, Oct. 28, my Clinton/Kaine sign was removed from my front lawn on Main Street in Centerbrook. Unfortunately, I was not the exception. According to my fellow Democrats, many Hillary signs were removed in Westbrook, Clinton, and Old Saybrook, as well as in my own neighborhood.

These acts reflect a pervasive attitude of intolerance among some Trump supporters that a difference of opinion and opposition to their beliefs must be suppressed. I choose to believe that most of my Republican neighbors would agree with me that stifling legitimate expression of opinion poses the greatest danger to our precious democracy.
