Outstanding and Praise-Worthy

As the coordinator of Partners in Community and REACT, I wanted to recognize our Clinton teens for some outstanding contributions to our town. In a time where negative actions seem to attract the most attention, I feel its so important to highlight the things that are going well and the people who are making positive decisions.

In October, both Eliot and Morgan students were part of two important initiatives in town. On Oct. 22, Eliot REACT and Morgan Peer Advocates teamed up with the Clinton Police Department to host the national Medication Take Back Day. Eliot REACT members dressed as zombies and attracted attention on the green at the Police Station to raise awareness of the dangers of prescription drugs, and Morgan students assisted in collecting unwanted medicines from people’s shelves and cabinets. Five large boxes of unwanted medication were collected and safely destroyed by the DEA.

On Oct. 30, more than 80 Morgan REACT students hosted the sixth annual Haunted Hallways event at the new Morgan School. The students planned and organized the entire event, creating costumes, scares, scenery, props, and even underwater lighting. More than 300 people attended and REACT was able to donate $1,045 to Clinton Social Services for holiday programming.

We have a lot to be proud of in Clinton, and our young people are at the top of the list. Congratulations go to all REACT and Peer Advocate members for being outstanding and so praise-worthy!
