Skills, Knowledge, and Common Sense

For many years the citizens of Madison have benefited from having fiscally responsible officials serving in our local government. These officials have recognized the importance of developing accurate revenue projections as an important factor in our town’s financial planning. They have developed and implemented reasonable and transparent budgets. As a result of these reasonable budgets, Madison citizens have experienced minimal tax increases that have funded needed services. Due to prudent financial planning, town officials have only had to borrow money to finance major projects occasionally.

Unfortunately, our state government has not demonstrated the sound financial practices employed by the Town of Madison. The state government’s mismanagement of Connecticut’s finances has caused our state to suffer from increasingly unsustainable levels of debt, which has led to the necessity of cuts in valuable services or tax increases every year.

The only way the State of Connecticut can change the destructive path we are on is to elect individuals to public office who have proven experience implementing sound financial practices in the private sector and in local government. Fortunately, for the citizens of the 12th State Senatorial District we have an individual running for State Senate this November who has the exact skill set we need to help fix our state’s broken finances. As a member of the Madison Board of Education and more recently as a selectman, Bruce Wilson (R) has contributed the skills, knowledge, and common sense gained through many years of successful business experience to our town’s financial planning.

I encourage your readers to join me in voting for Bruce Wilson, a Madison native, and a man with a proven track record of success in business and in local government, as their 12th District State Senator this November.
