Not Just Saying It

I will never criticize people based on their political affiliation or the candidates they support. Free elections and a citizen’s right to participate in the process are critical to the democracy I spent 24 years of my life supporting and defending.

This presidential election provides some extremely polarizing backdrops to campaigns at the state and regional levels. This is not a time to think about party politics; this is a time to think about Connecticut and the Lower Connecticut Valley. State Senator Art Linares, Jr. (R-33) and 36th District state representative candidate Bob Siegrist (R) offer new perspectives and a fresh direction for Connecticut.

Almost to a person, every politician I have ever met claimed to be fiscally conservative and socially liberal. It is getting to the point that the saying is moot. But Linares and Siegrist are not just saying it, they are doing it. Linares’s votes in the Senate demonstrate he is determined to attack Connecticut’s fiscal issues while supporting the social and educational needs of the state. Siegrist epitomizes the average citizen of the region: He is living with the challenge to make ends meet, and like so many of us is questioning the future of Connecticut. Siegrist has vowed to attack Connecticut’s issues with the vigor necessary to effect positive change.

I encourage your readers to join me in supporting Linares for state senator and Siegrist for state representative.
