Neither Entitlement nor Privilege

I would like to endorse Bruce Wilson (R) as our next state senator. At this time, our state is suffering a double exodus: businesses are fleeing the state because of outrageous taxation and regulation, and youth are fleeing to follow the businesses and any hope of meaningful employment. As a business owner, Mr. Wilson saved manufacturing jobs just when the economy was at its darkest seven years ago. Who better to address the most pressing problem facing our state?

The fundamental problem has to do with the legislature itself, where a clique of know-it-all lawyers send the governor ever-more-appalling budgets for his signature. More than ever, we need an advocate for the working class such as Mr. Wilson who can draft legislation that helps keep businesses in the state without resorting to shocking tax giveaways to select corporations.

Mr. Wilson’s charitable endeavors are more tangible than fancy cocktail party fundraisers for white-collar professionals. He purposefully created work for individuals with disabilities; he collaborated with SARAH and Easter Seals to ensure special-needs workers earn an income and build self-esteem.

With a winning combination of hands-on knowledge as a job creator and demonstrated compassion for the needy, Mr. Wilson can be the source of wisdom that the State Senate so desperately needs. Bottom line: We require neither entitlement nor privilege to get Connecticut back on track as the engine of ingenuity and industry in the Northeast. All we need are good people like Bruce Wilson.
