Experience and Character

Election time again and our politicians on all levels are out there informing us of the many accomplishments they have achieved on our behalf. Some are true but many stretch the truth to point that would make Pinocchio blush.

I want to take a little different approach. The candidate I will be supporting is Dave Yaccarino (R-87), who is running for his third term as North Haven’s state representative. I know Dave Yaccarino. Rather than cite all the specific things that Dave has done for the town of North Haven, I want to talk about Dave the man.

Dave is a humble guy. He knows North Haven and its citizens as he raised his three children here and is himself a local small businessman. People who know Dave feel entirely comfortable dropping into his store to discuss any issues or problems they may have. He holds monthly “Meet and Greet” sessions at McDonald’s to which citizens can come to ask questions or express concerns. This is in fact one of Dave’s best characteristics: He is totally accessible to his constituents and always takes whatever steps are necessary to solve their problems. I know firsthand as it was Dave who was able to correct a problem my employer encountered when no one else could or would.

Come Nov. 8, I will feel very good about voting for Dave Yaccarino whose experience and character make him the best choice for North Haven.
