Clearly Doing its Best

As the coordinator of Partners in Community (PiC), I would like to recognize the team from Friends of Youth & Family Service Bureau who worked so hard to bring Chris Herren’s message to Clinton.

On Oct. 6 and 7, all of Clinton’s 6th to 12th grade students and more than 400 adults heard Herren’s message about the dangers of alcohol, marijuana, and opioid use and addiction. They heard that the students who are choosing not to use are the strong and empowered ones. They heard how it is far more difficult to be oneself 100 percent of the time instead of turning to chemicals for relief, escape from personal pain, and false courage. What an essential message for our community!

Thanks go to the “Friends of” team for rallying the support of such a variety of town organizations and businesses. With such a diverse representation of groups that care and are committed to the health of our residents, especially our youth, Clinton is clearly doing its best to prevent tragedy and to promote vitality. When so many people step forward to care for one another, a community can’t help but change for the better. Great work to all involved!

PiC will continue this conversation about prevention of substance abuse monthly, on the third Monday evening of each month. View the meeting schedule at www.clintonpic.org.
