An Experienced Professional

State Senator Art Linares, Jr. (R-33) has portrayed himself as a champion of children, yet his voting record doesn’t demonstrate that by any means. He voted against increasing the minimum wage from $8.70 to $10.10 by the year 2017. Seriously, how can any mother make it on those kinds of poverty wages? How can anyone survive earning $17,000 a year living in Middlesex County?

He also voted against sensible gun legislation that included universal background checks and a ban on the sale of assault style weapons in Connecticut. He continues to oppose any sort of gun control and has shown that he will not compromise or try to reach solutions to make our neighborhoods, our schools, and our lives safer from guns.

Recently, he voted against a domestic violence bill that temporarily (up to seven days) takes guns away from alleged domestic violence abusers, thereby providing greater protection and safety for children and families.

The good news is that all three of these commonsense bills were passed in a bipartisan manner. Unfortunately, none of these legislative actions were supported by our representative Art Linares.

I will be voting for Norm Needleman (D) this election. He is not and doesn’t want to be a career politician. He will not be an obstructionist and will not be following anyone’s agenda. He is an experienced professional who will be going to Hartford to solve problems and get things done. He has demonstrated time and again that he will work with people from both sides of the aisle and make sensible decisions that positively impact communities. He is a fiscal conservative who has always brought forth rational and balanced budgets, something our state desperately needs.

Regardless of party, Norm is the best choice as our next state senator.
