A Public-Private Effort

Branford is fortunate to have Ted Kennedy, Jr. (D-12) as our state senator. He works well with both political parties. He’s smart, he knows how the legislature works, and he’s inexhaustible as he promotes legislation to protect the Sound and the environment and to make Connecticut more business-friendly..

As chairman of the General Assembly’s Environment Committee, Ted has worked to pass important legislation with strong bipartisan support. One bill in particular might be the most comprehensive pollinator health law in the nation. It reduces the use of pesticides that kill bees, and commits the state to choosing bee-friendly plants when it is planting vegetation along roads and utility rights-of-way. Another bill bans pesticide use on municipal playgrounds, and requires that parents be notified of any emergency application of pesticide at their child’s school.

Ted also understands that to improve the state’s economy, our local, state, and federal officials need to have an ongoing dialogue with business owners and entrepreneurs. He did just that last spring when he organized an economic forum for shoreline businesses, starting a public-private effort to better position the state as a place to start and expand a business.

I’ll be at the polls early on Nov. 8 to vote for Ted, and hope your readers will do the same!
