10/19/2016 08:00 AMI want to spend the rest of my life on the shoreline, but a day doesn’t go by where another friend, classmate or colleague is picking up and leaving Branford behind in exchange for a new life in Stamford, New York, and beyond.
Building a creative economy in Connecticut is paramount to keeping the shoreline prosperous and the next generation engaged, employed and at home in Branford. We need State Senator Ted Kennedy, Jr. (D-12) and State Representative Lonnie Reed (D-102)’s leadership in Hartford to ensure our bright future.
Ted’s experience as a successful entrepreneur has shined brightly as he spearheaded efforts and legislation in Hartford that makes doing business in Connecticut more cost effective and less encumbered by ineffective regulation. He has also supported legislation that incentivizes young entrepreneurs to build businesses in Connecticut. Ted also understands the value of the many underdeveloped artistic, cultural, and historic landmarks we have throughout our district. I have been at the table when Ted facilitates conversations and connections between non-profits, businesses, and government agencies to create effective and thoughtful partnerships that elevate business and elevate our communities.
Lonnie Reed has been a fighter since she arrived in Hartford. Lonnie’s commitment to job creation along the shoreline has been never ending. She has worked to identify and recruit strong companies to the shoreline, creating jobs and a wider local tax base for Branford. Her efforts to establish incentives for new hires in the manufacturing industry and make capital available to small businesses through the Small Business Express program have been hugely successful.
As a small business owner with a hope of growing my American dream in my hometown, I encourage your readers to join me in ensuring the vibrant and exciting future we know Connecticut deserves by re-electing Ted and Lonnie on Nov. 8.
