Proactive and Bipartisan

I will be voting to re-elect Democrat Sean Scanlon as state representative from the 98th District (Pine Orchard and Stony Creek in Branford and southern Guilford). In his first term in the Legislature, Sean took a strong leadership role in drafting and passing a bill to begin addressing the epidemic of opioid drug addiction affecting our communities by placing limits on the size of prescriptions for opioid pain-killers.

Sean also shares my view of the importance of protecting our environment. He served on the Environment Committee and earned a 90 percent positive score from the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters. The CTLCV just endorsed him for re-election. Sean helped pass bills that will remove plastic microbeads from personal care products sold in Connecticut, reduce the use of pesticides that harm bees and other pollinators needed by Connecticut’s agriculture industry, and promote the reduction and recycling of consumer packaging. He contributed to the effort to reduce the use of single use plastic carry-out bags, and he will continue to work toward this goal if re-elected.

Now more than ever, we need Sean’s proactive and bipartisan collaborative approach to reaching the best possible outcome, whatever the issue. I encourage your readers to join me in voting to re-elect Sean Scanlon as our state representative on Nov. 8.
