We, the citizens of the 12th Senatorial District and the 98th Legislative District, are fortunate to have such quality representation in Hartford.

Our state senator, Ted Kennedy, Jr. (D-12), and our state representative, Sean Scanlon (D-98), are very knowledgeable and hard-working public servants.

They are both young men of great integrity and boundless energy. Although they are both serving in their first terms, they have become known by their peers as effective leaders in the state legislature. Working in a bipartisan co-operative manner, they have garnered support for significant efforts to cut wasteful spending. They have successfully supported our local businesses by bringing our state tax dollars back to Guilford for the new parking lot downtown. They are working tirelessly to protect our environment, to preserve the integrity of Long Island Sound, and to cultivate our farmland initiatives.

They have brought strong support to better serve our veterans, our health care system, our seniors’ needs, and the challenges facing our youth.

In this election we are faced with a disturbing national political scene. Some citizens may feel that they don’t want to vote due to their frustration and their anger. It is imperative that we support our good public servants when we have them to work for us. I encourage your readers to vote for Senator Ted Kennedy, Jr., and Representative Sean Scanlon. They are dynamic and effective leaders and are most deserving of our support.
