Examination and Communication

It has been such a pleasure to watch State Senator Ted Kennedy, Jr. (D-12) since he was elected two years ago. He transformed his beliefs into actions beginning with his firm belief that communicating with his constituents in clear, straightforward, transparent statements is the most important action with which to begin. Thus from late February 2015 to the end of August 2016, he has sent out emails outlining every important action and issue being addressed that given week for a total of 64 definitive communications. By way of specific example, he has written emails on the topics of “Branford’s Bioscience Industry” and “Bioscience Startups,” then going on to “Helping New Entrepreneurs,” “Cutting Business Regulations,” “Supporting Cutting-Edge Businesses in Branford,” and “Boosting Manufacturing Apprenticeships.”

Another topic he addressed was finance, including “Promoting Financial Literacy” and “Financial Education,” helping students understand their own financial specifics as they move into adulthood and which can be taught from Kindergarten on to graduation as it is in some other countries.

Then there is health care issue topics such as “Helping People Heal at Home,” “Investing in Local Health Providers,” “Transparency in Hospital Fees,” “Bringing Fairness to Mental Health,” “Talking About Healthy Aging,” and “Protecting Children from Secondhand Smoke.”

With regard to the environment, there were emails on “Environmental Issues Roundtable Radio,” “Protecting Pollinators,” “Improving State Parks,” “Working with Businesses to Reduce Waste,” “Excessive Tree Trimming,” and “New York Times Sounds the Alarm on Microbeads”.

These are only some of the vast issues in which Ted Kennedy, Jr. has involved himself these past two years on our behalf. We need this kind of tremendous examination and communication from our Connecticut State Legislators. Let’s give him two more years for us.
