An Impressive Place

Some weeks ago I wrote to explain the problem with our Main Street flags. The flags have been maintained by the Exchange Club since the programs inception. Main Street is a harsh environment for this. Most of the pole collars and brackets were failing.

After much trial through the summer, we had one community volunteer, Kevin Frechette, help us design a custom bracket. He built 50 of the new design and helped install them.

With the 9/11 display on the Green and the flags flying on Main Street, this town looked, and is, an impressive place to live.

Thanks go to my Exchange Club friends and many thanks to Kevin—and to all who donated. We still need to raise more funds to maintain this program. I encourage your readers to mail any donation to Exchange Club P.O. Box 400 Old Saybrook, or stop by the Paint Shop and shake Andy Scott’s hand for all his time on this rebuild effort as well!
