A New Appreciation

I have a new appreciation for the police in East Haven after attending our Fall Festival. Saturday morning they had to redirect my car and hundreds others so that we could find our way around the road race.

Later they were there making sure it was safe for thousands of people who came to the concert. I began to suspect that it was an “all hands on deck” kind of weekend for them. When I thanked them for being there on Saturday night it hit me: If they weren’t there Saturday night, I wouldn’t be, either. How many times I take that protection for granted.

Still later I saw one, then another, running as fast as they could in one direction. I wondered: Was someone hurt? Was someone threatening? They were on it. Who runs toward trouble? Our police do.

So thanks go to our police. They get it right, too!
