Woofstock Beat the Heat

I would like to thank so many people within our community for coming together and making our fourth annual Woofstock on the Branford Green the most successful one yet. First Selectman Jamie Cosgrove, Fire Chief Tom Mahoney, Pam from The Chaz and AJ Show, and others sat in the popular Dunk Tank; Connecticut state representatives Lonnie Reed and Sean Scanlon led the Woofstock Woof Walk in the morning; “Cadillac” John Saville was our master of ceremonies, along with Dennis Nardella as sound engineer extraordinaire; and of course the bands that volunteered their time and massive amounts of energy: Chewy and The Grateful Friends, Steamroller, and Jackie Meeker and The Levitating Hubinger Extravaganza. WTNH Channel 8 News Meteorologist Gil Simmons said it was between 100- and 108 degrees on the Green throughout the day, and with this, we still experienced the most creative of Woofstock Hippie Dog Costumes yet!

We cannot thank our entire community enough for its support—many shelter pets’ lives have been saved due to the generosity. Thanks go to all our sponsors: Dr. Deborah J. Yarrow and Mill Pond Veterinarian, Blue Buffalo, Aquatic Pool, 800-Pet Meds, and Pet Valu and the others—attendees, vendors, supporters, press, and of course the many volunteers who put this event together and ran it. Without everyone, Woofstock on the Branford Green would just be another idea.
