Another Successful Year

On June 15, HK Project Graduation hosted its 26th celebration for the 2016 high school graduates. At 4:15 in the morning, right before we started raffling off prizes, Dave Carey asked the alumni what the numbers 26 and zero mean—the answer: 26 years of holding this event and zero fatalities on graduation night. Another successful year!

We couldn’t have done it without the many volunteers, those on the committee, and those who help out during the year and the night of. We also couldn’t do this without our many financial supporters. This event costs approximately $22,000. We are not part of any school or town budget. We raise this money through fundraising and outright donations. It’s incredible the response we get to our postal patron mailing. Every donation—from the check for $5 to the checks for $150—helps us reach our goal.

We thank all of the residents of Haddam, Higganum, Haddam Neck, and Killingworth who contribute to us. We also thank the businesses in Killingworth and Madison that contribute, both financially and in-kind through prizes for our seniors to food that we serve at the celebration. Following is a list of the businesses that support us:

All-Points Technology Corp., P.C., Bradley & Wall, CE3 Inc., Chatfield Hollow Bed & Breakfast Inc., Cozy Corner Bake Shoppe, Crossroads Driving School, HK Cougars Touchdown Club, HK Dairy Barn, Killingworth Ambulance Association, Inc., Killingworth Country Market, Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company, Pizzeria DaVinci, R.J. Julia Booksellers, Roberts Food Center, The Fish Tale, Killingworth Family Pharmacy, and Youth & Family Services of Haddam-Killingworth.

Thanks go to everyone for helping us reach 26–0!
