Takes a Town

The Westbrook Garden Club knows it takes a whole town to make a successful garden market, and Westbrook has proven it again this year! Our annual sale was sensational, despite the less-than-perfect weather, and as always, many, many folks helped to make it a success.

Thanks go to Public Works for anchoring our giant sign to its new location on the Green, to the Boy Scouts who put up the tents that sheltered workers and shoppers from showers, to Nautical Needles for the garden-themed burlap tablecloths, and to Westbrook Pizza, who warmed and cheered us with a pizza lunch. Our annuals were purchased again this year from Vaiuso, and many members and their friends and families donated Members’ Plants for sale. We also owe thanks to Anna Binder for donating cannas and Barbara Blank for donating dahlias again this year.

Our members worked hard and long under the watchful eyes of Carolyn Fish, who gets a special shout-out for planning and managing this event. Most of all, thanks to the shoreline community for shopping and supporting our annual scholarship, town beautification initiatives, and free public education programs.
