Postal Carriers Stamp Out Hunger

On May 14, postal carriers helped to Stamp Out Hunger by collecting more than 4,200 pounds of non-perishable food items throughout the East Haven community and delivered the food to the East Haven Food Pantry. On behalf of the pantry I would like to thank all the carriers who delivered the food and would also like to thank the community for participating in this great event every year.

The need for food is even greater this year with the pantry handing out approximately 6,200 meals in April alone. The summer months are quickly approaching and soon children who would normally receive free breakfast and lunch during the school year will not receive these meals when the school is closed. The community’s generosity is greatly appreciated.

I would also like to thank the volunteers who gave up a few hours of their time on Saturday afternoon to help unload the mail trucks, sort, and stock the shelves. The pantry is run by a group of dedicated volunteers who donate their time each week to make it so successful in helping our neighbors in need.
