Lack of Follow Up

In your April 28 issue you featured a photograph of Connecticut Experiential Learning Center (CELC) students named finalists in the science fair [“CELC Students Named Finalists in Science Fair”], which was true. CELC, a small Branford middle school, had many entries into the state science fair, but two of those entries were named honors finalists: Galina Cooper and the team of Sophie Burdick and Sue Hemingway.

What does not seem to have been covered in this or subsequent issues is the fact that CELC’s entries did quite well on awards day, taking home five awards overall, including one first place award (middle school applied technology) and a second place award (middle school physical sciences team).

We CELC parents appreciate the photo and the caption, but were disappointed by the lack of follow up coverage: Surely such a strong showing from such a small school is noteworthy?
