Known and Proven Killers

I agree with Jonathan Clark [April 28 letter “The Biggest Danger”]. Yes, let’s legalize marijuana, so it will be available and cheaper than the known and proven killers—alcohol, heroin, opium, tobacco, and—worst of all—prescription drugs with the debilitating side-effects. Too many have committed suicide by over-dosing.

Rather than mother’s milk, more probable gateways to alcoholism might be those delicious things we too often give our children—hard cider, spiked punch, rum cakes, cough syrup, or other meds containing alcohol.
