The Ultimate Weapon

To quote Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

Education advocates in Clinton have long been accused of using education as a weapon, particularly during the budget season. I would argue that education is the most important weapon we have available to us in our community.

Education is central to reducing poverty; it affords people the opportunity to earn higher-paying jobs and greater financial stability. Education is key to eliminating gender inequality, opening doors for both genders to pursue varied studies and occupations. Education is critical for the prevention of crime, by keeping young people occupied and challenged. Education is the foundation upon which all economic growth is built.

I was initially uncomfortable with the analogy of education as a weapon, due to its violent connotation. I now feel education is the ultimate weapon, with which the progress and success of Clinton and society will be won.
