A Novel Idea

The 25th year of the American Legion Kids Walk & Scavenger Hunt fundraiser for our kids at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center was held on April 9 at 336 Main Street, Old Saybrook and covered the area of North Cove, Cromwell Place, Church Street, and Main Street.

Walking and looking for items on the scavenger hunt was a novel idea. While we were walking, we forgot about tired feet and sore toes. Instead we found six lions, the Frank Stevenson Monument, a mail box with Paul Revere riding a horse, a sign for Cyr Drywall, two corner swimming pools, the smallest house, the Bird Sanctuary, Previews, Merrill Hall, and even a dog leash in a tree. Only one person had all the questions right (Janelle Gorecki) and two only missed one, the dog leash in the tree: David Kirpas and Eileen Perron.

Thanks go to the walkers and volunteers from the following communities: Clinton, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, and Westbrook. Thanks also go to Grace Church for the use of its facilities.
