Forget Something?


Relative to your March 17 article, “Criteria Spelled Out for Senior Tax Relief,” you forgot the criteria.

To be eligible for the North Haven tax freeze program, the seniors income cannot exceed $35,200 if the senior is single, or $42,900 if they are married. The eligible age is 70. That is the main criteria that should have been in the article!

All that other asset information, in the article, that was voted on by the committee, was ludicrous. Do you think someone in that low income bracket is living in a $500,000 house or has assets up to $300,000? Could that have been a joke?

This program is set up to eliminate as many seniors as possible, not help them.
