The Opportunity to Shine

Old Saybrook High School (OSHS) has been putting on wonderful plays and musicals for decades and this year’s production of Into the Woods was no different. As a former OSHS student who participated in the musicals, I know the dedication and time that goes into making these productions successful. I want to commend everyone for all of their hard work. The show’s cast and crew did a phenomenal job and every student who participated should feel incredibly proud of what they were able to accomplish.

The production was bittersweet, though, because it was director/English teacher Jeanne Proctor’s last. Mrs. Proctor has been integral in making the school’s drama program what it is today and I know I speak for many when I say “Thank you.” Some of my best high school memories come from my time acting in Mrs. Proctor’s shows. Through her passion, kindness, and commitment, she gave every student the opportunity to shine and taught us the value of teamwork and respect.

She may be retiring, but her influence will undoubtedly live on in the town of Old Saybrook.
