A Festive Town Party

The Westbrook Treelighting Committee thanks the many individuals, organizations, and businesses that made the Dec. 6 event a festive town party.

Thanks to a grant from the Westbrook Foundation, there was a new sound system. Thanks go to Westbrook Drum Corps and Westbrook Historical Society for their open houses, to Essex Savings Bank for sponsoring the wagon rides and Foxglove Farms for providing them, and to Westbrook Elks for sponsoring the ice sculpture.

The committee thanks the businesses and organizations near the Green for decorations and goodies: Don Balint of Christmas Décor, The Daily Grind, The Stork Exchange, and Westbrook Pizza. Other organizations and businesses made significant contributions: Envirotech, Lighthouse Signs, Riggio Garden Center, ShopRite, Westbrook Ambulance, Emergency Management and Fire departments, Friends of the Westbrook Library, Westbrook Garden Club, Westbrook High School (WHS) Future Business Leaders, and the Police, Public Works, and Recreation departments.

Many individuals and organizations participated in the parade and performed on the Green including Cub, Boy, Daisy, Brownie, and Girl scouts; the Board of Selectmen, State Senator Art Linares; state representatives Devin Carney and Jesse Maclachlan; Reverend Jan Gregory-Charpentier; Jan Mazeau and the Congregational Church children’s choir; Cheryl Dimenstein and the preschool choir; Connecticut Volkswagen Association; Jen Capano and friends (bonfire and s’mores!); ice sculptor Dan Medeiros; Lighthouse Church; Anastasia and Chris Jankowski; Band Tubadores, OS-W youth football and cheerleaders (reindeer food); Oxford Academy; Santa’s elves Lexi Koplas, Alex Young, and Kendall Orlowski; VISTA students, especially singer Brian Ruddy and staff; Westbrook Dance Academy; Bob Hale; Bill Taylor; Dick Wade; WHS Band and Kina Mama chorus; Westbrook Junior Colonials; and Westbrook Drum Corps.
