What a Wonderful Community

On behalf of the Deep River Community Health Committee, I’d like to extend my sincerest thanks to all who helped make our second annual Soup for You! fundraiser a success. Oct. 18 was a beautiful fall day and the Deep River Ambulance Barn was filled with the scintillating aroma of fresh, hot, delicious soup. People streamed in to support the Deep River food bank by sampling soups prepared by local restaurants and chefs, and voting for their favorite. Congratulations to Simon’s Marketplace, the winner of The Golden Ladle award with its savory clam chowder! Folks perused the crockpot-laden buffet tables, slurped, and socialized (and shrieked when those few oddball flakes of snow fell)! Some even managed to taste all 13 entries. What a wonderful community we live in where neighbors care for their neighbors and support the work the Community Health Committee is doing. Thanks go to all these generous people.

An event like this could not happen without our fantastic chefs, sponsors, and all-around “good guys.” We would also like to bestow our gratitude upon Adams Hometown Market, Ashleigh’s Garden, the Blue Hound Cookery, Calamari’s Tavern (with Howard Beardsley), the Deep River Ambulance Barn, Dough On Main, Hally Jo’s, the Ivory Restaurant and Pub, the Kollmer Family, Pizzeria Davinci, Russell and Lisa Marth, The Red House, Simon’s Marketplace, The Villager, Wade’s Country Store, and The Whistle Stop. I encourage your readers to support these local businesses the way they have supported us.

I hope to see everyone next year on the third Sunday in October for the third annual Soup for You!
