Fun, Organized, and Successful

On behalf of the staff and trustees, I would like to thank the many volunteers, sponsors and participants who made this year’s Run Local Read Local 5K race such a success. Our financial sponsors, Kohl’s, Tower Laboratories, Bell Power Systems, The Clark Group, Richard Riggio and Sons, Essex Financial Group, Christopher Morano, and Dr. Carolyn Blicharz, helped us organize the type of race we wished to hold.

Our in-kind sponsors, Adam’s Superfood IGA, The Blue Hound Cookery and Taproom, Dunkin’ Donuts of Essex, Carl Echtman, The Ivoryton Congregational Church, The Ivoryton Tavern and Café, Olsen Sanitation, Panera Bread, Scott’s Farm and Greenhouse, and Stop & Shop of Old Saybrook, allowed us to present the best possible experience for our runners.

The support from Essex Land Trust, Essex Police and Fire departments, Essex Park & Recreation, the Village of Essex, and the Town of Essex gave us peace of mind and the many volunteers, from the Girl Scouts of Essex to the Ancient Order of Essex Weeders and all the people in between, came out to help on a frosty morning and offered us the very best in community spirit and friendship.

The Ivoryton Library is grateful to be supported by such groups and individuals. We give a very special thank you to our race director for the past six years, Judy Saunders, who lead us fearlessly, enabling us to present a fun, organized, and successful 5K fundraiser year after year.
