A Common Problem?

This past week my husband’s truck was literally hacked in the commuter parking lot on Goose Lane. His catalytic converter was hack-sawed out of his muffler system, costing us $1,200 to repair, not covered by our insurance. As this is state property, he reported the theft to the State Police. And yet, everyone I told the story to said “Oh, that happens all the time. That is a common problem. My friend got hers stolen in the same lot. They get stolen all the time, even in employee parking lots.”

What?!? How come we had never heard of this problem before? The “Under Police Surveillance” sign is a joke, apparently, but no big surprise given the state of our state’s economy. I, for one, am at a loss for what to do, aside from increasing our insurance coverage, and getting a very loud alarm system installed on our vehicles.

So, just be forewarned, and let the parker beware. You, too, could be hacked at any time.
