Leadership through Service

My name is Eric Couture, and I am running for a seat on the Haddam-Killingworth Board of Education. A resident of Killingworth since I moved here with my family as a child in 1993, I have attended our schools and participated in their athletic activities throughout my life.

I graduated from Haddam-Killingworth High School in 2007 and went on to attend Rochester Institute of Technology to obtain a degree in physics. While there, I joined Pi Kappa Phi and my degree morphed into one in both physics and political science. My education in political science and my choice of fraternity inform my decision to run for Board of Education.

One of the key tenets of my fraternity is leadership through service. This means that when the opportunity presents itself, you should work to better your community through your service to it. And through my reading of American political history, the key to our success has always been our communal bonds.

I love my hometown and wish to see it succeed. I am running as a way of giving back to the community that put so much work into making me the person I am today. I want to ensure that the opportunities provided to me by our school district continue to be provided for future students. That is why I wish to serve on the Board of Education, and that is why I hope your readers will vote for me on Nov. 3.
