A Strong Sense of Purpose

My neighbor, Eric Couture, is running for the Board of Education in Killingworth. He would make an excellent board member.

Eric graduated from Haddam-Killingworth High School in 2007 and went on to the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he earned a joint degree in physics and political science. That makes him an H-K success story.

I think he is a success in an even more important way: He is a young man with a strong sense of purpose. He believes he has an obligation to give back to his community and society. He is politically involved. He feels a responsibility to the future. That shows the kind of values that we want our students to graduate with.

Eric is a recent H-K graduate, and so he will bring a valuable and unusual perspective to the Board of Education. He will help the board understand how policies look from the students’ point of view.

I hope your readers will join me in voting for Eric on Nov. 3.
