A Comprehensive Understanding

The position of first selectman is a multifaceted job. In order to serve the best interests of the town, a good candidate has to work well with a variety of people in many different circumstances, and not let partisan bickering get in the way. While committees and town departments each have their specific duties and focuses, the first selectman has to attend to the whole picture.

This requires a candidate who with just the right mixture of personality and experience.

Lauren Gister served in the Marine Corps for 25 years. They say, “Once a Marine, always a Marine.” That’s because the Corps instills a strong sense of duty and service in its people. It also teaches how to focus on problems, work with a wide variety of people, and make tough decisions.

Since 1996, Lauren has served local residents through her law practice. This has made her familiar with town issues, and, more important, town citizens as well. People know her. They know her commitment to Chester.

In facing the many challenges that Chester already has, along with future challenges, it’s good to have someone at the helm with a comprehensive understanding of the law, which Lauren has.

Because of all this I am endorsing Lauren Gister for first selectman of Chester.
