Let’s Grab the Opportunity

Is the glass half full or half empty? It’s about perspective and interpretation, isn’t it?

Old Saybrook Healthy Community Healthy Youth and a panel of experts—Old Saybrook youth—will review the data from Old Saybrook’s most recent survey of students in grades 6 to 12, titled “A Profile of Student Life: Attitudes and Behaviors.”

Together as a community, let’s grab the opportunity to talk about the meaning behind the data, to hear what our kids think about their daily experiences at school, at home, and in the community to understand what their anonymous survey responses tell us about what they need from their community to thrive and succeed.

Let’s grab the opportunity to listen earnestly to what our students told us with their survey responses and respond accordingly.

Whether they are a parent, a teacher, a coach, a clergy, a neighbor, government official, business person, retiree, health professional—anyone with a vested interest in our community and the youth who will be inheriting it—I encourage your readers to join us on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. at The Kate, 302 Main Street for a special conversation, What Are Your Kids Saying? Are We Listening?

Is the glass half full or half empty? You decide.
