Beautifying the Bridge

As I write this letter, on a beautiful mid-September morning, I am reminded of how blessed we are to live in such a beautiful area. We are an area rich in history, beautiful homes, and beautiful people. Our three villages of Essex, Centerbrook , and Ivoryton each carry their own uniqueness in this place we call home.

The gateway to this area, specifically the Route 9 overpass, is one area that as I drive by does not portray the true beauty of our town.

While sharing my thoughts on this with a fellow resident, he felt the same way, and he offered his company’s equipment, labor, and management in the repainting of the bridge. What an amazing donation of time, energy, and resources to help make our gateway a more welcoming place for all!

He estimated the costs associated with this idea of beautifying the bridge overpasses and the materials needed to paint the overpasses soft green would cost about $20,000. We are seeking help in covering the cost of the paint and materials to take advantage of this very generous offer. The Essex Foundation has already pledged $5,000. We are hoping that other organizations or individuals will help raise the remainder necessary to complete this project.

If you or anyone you know is willing to contribute or has any thoughts regarding this, please contact me at 860-304-0126.
